Job summary

Borne Resourcing Limited is recruiting an experienced Clerk of Works / Senior Clerk of Works to join a multidisciplinary construction consultancy.

You will perform regular site inspections, monitor workmanship, identify defects, and manage defect trackers, ensuring conformance to drawings, contracts and Building Regulations. The role covers Norfolk/Suffolk with a 35-hour week and a salary of £50,000 - £55,000, permanent, starting October 2026.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of building construction and quality control.
• Member of ICWCI or CIOB; full Member not required.
• Experience with site inspection software a plus.

We are working with an established, highly regarded multidisciplinary construction consultancy looking to appoint an experienced Clerk of Works / Senior Clerk of Works to join its team.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Undertaking regular inspections of construction projects
• Monitoring progress, workmanship and quality
• Identifying defects, discrepancies and areas of non-compliance
• Producing clear, professional site inspection reports
• Managing defect trackers and proactively following up outstanding issues
• Undertaking snagging, de-snagging and end-of-defects-liability inspections
• Checking works against contractual drawings, employers' requirements, warranty standards and Building Regulations
• Maintaining accurate project records and working within established QA procedures

Who Are We Looking For?

You’ll need a strong understanding of building construction and the confidence to recognise when something isn’t right.

Importantly, you must be a member of either the Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI) or Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). You don't necessarily need to have progressed to full Member grade.

You'll also need:

• Excellent knowledge of building construction processes
• Knowledge of standard construction contracts, including JCT and NEC
• Experience with tablet-based inspection software such as Field View or PlanRadar
• Strong written reporting and communication skills
• Good organisation and time management
• Full UK driving licence
