Job Title: Clerk of Works

As a Clerk of Works, you will need to demonstrate the ability to undertake instructions for building works in progress on new build residential sites.

The successful candidate will need to be confident in liaising with building contractors and preparing detailed reports for Employer’s Agents and Project Management.

This position covers the Essex and East London area; suitable candidates should ideally reside within these locations.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Verifying compliance with contractual drawings, warranty standards, and employer’s requirements.
  • Preparing written reports with supporting photographs to a high standard and submitting them in a timely manner.
  • Conducting regular inspections to identify defects throughout construction, especially post-completion, and communicating issues to the appropriate parties.
  • Organising snagging and end-of-defect inspections with clients.
  • Maintaining strong client relationships throughout the project.
  • Staying updated with building regulations and compliance standards.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Good knowledge of current Building Regulations and warranty provider standards.
  • Thorough reporting skills and ability to escalate issues appropriately.
  • Effective communication at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 360 (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Experience in passive fire safety and re-cladding projects is desirable.
  • Experience in high-rise new build developments is preferred.
  • Experience with tablet-based digital inspection software.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements

Membership of the Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate GB.
