Clerical Officer - Radiology

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Clerical Officer to join our busy Radiology Department. This post is fixed term until 31st December 2025.

You will be based at Colchester Hospital and hours of work will be 8:00am till 4.00pm or 8:30am till 4:30pm.

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, together with proven clerical ability. Being able to work under pressure is essential as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required.

Internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered on a secondment basis only

Main duties of the job
  • To provide a full reception service to visitors to the Radiology Department, in liaison with the departmental staff to ensure patients and other visitors are dealt with efficiently and in a friendly manner.
  • To attend all patient visits using the Computerised Radiology Information System (CRIS), to include the scanning of request cards.
  • To accurately register and change patient details using Careflow and to check the whereabouts of inpatients and to request patients notes when required.
  • To deal with telephone enquiries from patients and other callers efficiently, whilst maintaining a friendly manner.
  • To monitor the 'Radiology Requests' email inbox and print off/ action all requests in order of urgency and load to CRIS.
  • To assist with the training and development of new staff within the department.
  • If double registrations are established flag up on system and complete form on the Radiology intranet.
  • To work closely with the Operational Co-Ordinator with any other Admin/Clerical Duties.
  • To make appointments for patients to attend for examinations using Computerised Radiology Information System (CRIS) in liaison with the modality leads - and radiologists where necessary.
  • To clear and action the appointments answer phone on a daily basis.
