Our Emergency Department is looking for a motivated individual with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills who is dedicated to working as an integral part of the Emergency Department team.
You will act as the first point of contact for visitors and service users, assisting in the smooth running of the Emergency Department and patient pathways, taking responsibility for timely, accurate, and efficient entry of key data into a patient database, and working with minimum supervision.
You must have experience in an administration role and be computer literate with proven experience of applying sophisticated IT systems, have effective customer service skills, be able to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team whilst also being able to use your own initiative, and having an understanding of data protection is also essential.
All applicants must be able to participate in a full shift pattern including long days, earlies, twilights, lates, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
Your role will involve booking in all patients upon arrival in a timely and correct manner to ensure prompt handovers of patients, ensuring the reception and waiting areas remain tidy and clean, escalating any issues to domestic services, nurse in charge, or matron as appropriate, attending and participating in Department/Directorate meetings, and scanning patient notes ensuring timely coordination of transfers and discharges.
You will ensure that patient notes are available and accessible, that patient-related forms are stocked appropriately at all times, that ambulance handovers are accurately recorded (including updating the department’s inbound screen) in a timely manner, and support the Senior Patient Flow Coordinator (SPFC) in the validation of ambulance delays and fines.
You will greet and welcome persons entering the department, checking identification of staff requiring access to patient information, monitoring the Ambulance Inbound screen, and identifying risks to Nurse in Charge (NIC), answering the telephone correctly by adhering to the Trusts telephone protocol, understanding and giving messages received to the appropriate person, maintaining good communication and relationships with members of staff and all visitors to the department, and liaising with wards and departments as required to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
