Clerical Assistant
The Royal High School

Salary: £24,909 - £25,116 (pro-rata for sessional)
Hours: 36 per week, 40 weeks sessional

We are looking for an experienced and efficient clerical assistant to join the established admin team at the Royal High School.

The Royal High School is one of the oldest schools in Scotland. It has a strong sense of history but prides itself on being very much a school of innovation. It is a non-denominational, 6-year comprehensive, with students drawn from four catchment primary schools: Blackhall, Clermiston, Cramond, and Davidson's Mains.

The school was inspected by HMIE in December 2022.

The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) includes the Headteacher, four Depute Headteachers, and the Business Manager. The current teaching staff comprises 100 FTE, with 21 FTE staff other than teachers, including Pupil Support Assistants supporting student integration. There is an integrated Additional Support for Learning Team combining guidance and support for learning, as well as our enhanced support and wellbeing bases.

The school was refurbished in 2004 and offers high-standard accommodation, although social areas are limited, and teaching spaces are rigorously timetabled. Facilities are used extensively outside normal hours by both the school and the community. The school is designated a Community Sports Hub, with PE facilities refurbished in 2015. There is an excellent extracurricular program with partner clubs and staff-led activities providing various opportunities for students. Due to rising enrollment, the school currently has six huts in the playground, with a new extension opening in Easter 2024.

The school maintains positive links with parents, local businesses, and the community. The Parent Council and Fundraising Group are active and well-attended, fostering lively and informative discussions. The school is also supported by an active Former Pupils' Club.
