East Calder Primary School is seeking a Clerical Assistant to join its dedicated team. The role involves supporting administrative functions within a vibrant school community, contributing to a positive educational environment. Candidates must be prepared for regulated work with children, requiring PVG registration.

East Calder Primary School and ELC is a non-denominational school serving the village of East Calder and the surrounding community. Although the school opened in 1935, in August 2024, we moved into a new, state-of-the-art building. The school operates within the West Calder High School cluster. Currently, the total school roll is 405 pupils, including a nursery with 98 children aged 2-4 years, offering morning, afternoon, and full-day sessions.
We are now seeking a Clerical Assistant to join our school team.
Working hours are from 8.30 am to 4.15 pm, Monday to Thursday, and 8.30 am to 1 pm on Friday.
The school management team comprises a Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, and Principal Teacher. Nursery classes are supported by Early Years Officers and Practitioners. Our staffing also includes teachers, Pupil Support Workers, and administrative and clerical staff.
The school runs a successful breakfast club and offers various after-school clubs throughout the year.
Distributed leadership is encouraged among staff, who demonstrate strong collegiality and teamwork, fostering a positive learning environment.
The school has developed strong partnerships with local community groups and businesses. We are well-regarded within the community and enjoy robust support from parents.
This position is classified as Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo an update check before a formal job offer is made by West Lothian Council.
