East Calder Primary School and ELC is a non-denominational school serving the village of East Calder and the surrounding community. Although our school initially opened in 1935, we moved into a new, state-of-the-art building in August 2024. The school operates within the West Calder High School cluster. Currently, the school has a roll of 405 pupils, including a nursery with 98 children aged 2-4 years, registered for morning, afternoon, and full-day sessions.
We are now seeking a Clerical Assistant to join our school team.
Hours are from 8.30 am to 4.15 pm, Monday to Thursday, and 8.30 am to 1 pm on Fridays.
The school management team includes a Headteacher, Depute Headteacher, and Principal Teacher. Nursery classes are supported by Early Years Officers and Early Years Practitioners. The rest of our staff comprises teachers, Pupil Support Workers, as well as admin and clerical staff.
The school runs a successful breakfast club and provides after-school clubs at various times throughout the year.
Distributed leadership is promoted across the staff, fostering strong collegiality and teamwork, which maintains a positive learning environment.
The school has well-established and mutually supportive partnerships with local community groups and businesses. We have earned a good reputation within the community and are well supported by the wider parent forum.
This post is classified as Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check before a formal employment offer is made by West Lothian Council.
