As the first point of contact for many parents, visitors and professionals, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our schools and helping to create a welcoming, positive experience for all.

The post is offered on a federation contract. Whilst the role will initially be based in the Infant School, the successful candidate may be required to work across either school within the federation as needed.

About the Role

This is a varied and rewarding position within a busy school office. No two days are the same and you will be involved in a wide range of administrative and clerical duties, including:

  • Welcoming and assisting visitors, parents, pupils and professionals
  • Answering telephone calls and responding to enquiries professionally and efficiently
  • Managing school communications, correspondence and administrative records
  • Supporting attendance, pupil data and other school systems
  • Maintaining accurate records and filing systems
  • Assisting with the organisation of school events, communications and day‑to‑day office operations
  • Providing administrative support to school leaders and staff
  • Handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion

As a member of the school office team, the successful candidate will have access to sensitive and confidential information relating to pupils, families and staff. A high level of discretion, professionalism and integrity is therefore essential.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience of working in an office environment, preferably within a school setting
  • Has strong IT and computer skills, with experience of using a range of digital systems and software
  • Possesses excellent literacy skills and GCSE Grade C/5 or above (or equivalent) in English, together with strong numeracy skills
  • Is highly organised, efficient and able to prioritise workloads effectively
  • Thrives in a busy environment and can work calmly under pressure whilst meeting deadlines
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates a professional, polite and approachable manner at all times
  • Is committed to providing excellent customer service and supporting the needs of children, families and the wider school community
  • Responds promptly, positively and appropriately to enquiries and requests
  • Builds positive relationships with children, colleagues, parents and external professionals
  • Understands and demonstrates a strong commitment to confidentiality, recognising the sensitive nature of information held within a school environment
  • Is able to handle confidential pupil, family, staff and safeguarding information with discretion, professionalism and in accordance with data protection requirements
  • Exercises sound judgement when dealing with sensitive matters and understands the importance of maintaining professional boundaries and trust
  • Can be relied upon to maintain accurate records whilst ensuring information is shared only with authorised individuals
  • Is a team player who is flexible, proactive and willing to contribute to the continued success of the federation

We Can Offer

  • The opportunity to work within a supportive and welcoming school federation
  • A dedicated team of experienced colleagues committed to helping one another succeed
  • High‑quality training and ongoing professional development opportunities
  • The chance to make a meaningful contribution to the education and wellbeing of our children
  • A varied and rewarding role where every day brings something different

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed. Please contact the school office if you would like to arrange a visit and learn more about this exciting opportunity.

Prospective applicants are also welcome to telephone the school to discuss the role further. Questions may be emailed directly to the Executive Headteacher at head@toftwoodfederation.co.uk

We look forward to receiving applications from enthusiastic, organised and committed individuals who would like to become part of our school community.

We reserve the right to interview and appoint before the closing date if a suitable candidate applies.
