Job Description

West Dunbartonshire Council is seeking energetic and committed candidates to support school improvement and provide high-quality support to teaching staff, aligning with key Council priorities on inclusion and raising aspirations, achievements, and attainment for all students. The role involves the effective delivery of clerical and administrative support for Dumbarton Academy.

You will ensure the smooth operation of the school office, provide a welcoming reception, respond to enquiries, and manage school data with accuracy. General duties include photocopying, filing, document preparation, mail handling, assisting with transport and trips, and routine cash handling, such as processing payments for school activities and uniforms. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent organizational and communication skills are required.

Post Details
  • Post 1: 35 hours per week, Permanent
  • Post 2: 25 hours per week, commencing in September, Fixed Term until 26 June 2026

As these are term-time positions, salaries will be pro-rata based on hours worked.

Requirements

This position is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Membership in the PVG scheme is essential, with further details available here. Preferred applicants will need to join or update their PVG scheme status before an offer is made.

Responsibilities

The employment is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants must disclose all convictions, including spent ones, as failure to do so may lead to dismissal or disciplinary action.
