Job summary

University of Leeds seeks an Experimental Officer to join the Leeds Nanotechnology Cleanroom. You will develop SOPs, train users, and operate advanced fabrication equipment, enabling researchers and external partners to access cutting-edge cleanroom capabilities.

You will promote the facility at events, build collaborations with SMEs and academia, and contribute to outreach with local colleges. A degree in physics or engineering is required, with PhD preferred or extensive industry experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in physics, engineering or related discipline; PhD preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable engaging with academics, students, and commercial partners

Responsibilities

• Develop standard operating procedures and provide user training
• Operate and maintain a broad range of cleanroom equipment
• Support processing for Leeds researchers and external users (fee-for-service)
• Promote cleanroom capabilities at conferences and trade fairs
• Engage with external academics and SMEs to develop collaborations
• Undertake outreach activities with local colleges
