Job description

Reporting to – Cleaning Operations Manager, Cleaning Manager and Soft Services Manager

Hour – Monday-Friday 0730-1630hrs

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drive service delivery for all cleaning lines under your management, ensuring KPI and SLA’s are met.
  • Maintain high attention to detail.
  • Ensure operational rosters, audits, overtime sheets are completed fully.
  • Manage continuous improvements, taking corrective action where necessary and informing line manager of performance issues.
  • Implement, review, and report on robust health and safety procedures regularly.
  • Action and record all work requests in line with KPIs/SLAs.
  • Adhere to Nomura/Bidvest Noonan standards with attention to detail.
  • Carry out daily inspections proactively to improve standards.
  • Communicate actions and feedback from audits to the team.
  • Understand the Specification and Scope of Works thoroughly.
  • Liaise with Management regarding changes affecting requirements, including equipment, areas, frequency, or new services.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate stock records.
  • Provide services cost-effectively.
  • Record and submit all ad hoc work upon completion.
  • Support operational cleaning duties when required.
  • Complete absence reports and return-to-work documentation.
  • Manage absences effectively.
  • Promote operational innovations and continuous service improvement mindset.

The following key responsibilities will be owned by the Cleaning Manager, especially during their absence:

  • Coordinate cleaning and security teams operationally.
  • Support in maintaining regular engagement with key client contacts.
  • Ensure delivery of client KPIs.
  • Develop and implement a clear Communication and Engagement model.
  • Oversee training, performance, motivation, safety, welfare, and discipline of team members.
  • Lead weekly, monthly, and other operational meetings for personal development.
  • Train, induct, and supervise team members.
  • Support and guide operatives to achieve service levels.
  • Implement new initiatives and ensure compliance with standards, legislation, ISO, and company policies.
  • Participate in recruitment, vetting, induction, training, and development of employees.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures.
  • Encourage team spirit and development.
  • Manage additional project work to client satisfaction.
  • Ensure resource availability and maintenance per contract specifications.
  • Quote for new services and ad-hoc works.
  • Implement and review health and safety policies through audits and reviews.
  • Report and document accidents promptly and accurately.
  • Inspect machinery and equipment, rectify faults.
  • Manage team induction, training, performance reviews, and HR processes.
  • Share ideas and best practices for improvement.
  • Support operational excellence with administrative duties.
  • Produce operational and regulatory reports as required.

This role requires supervisory experience in a similar environment, demonstrating leadership, influencing, and communication skills, with a focus on improving performance through efficient practices and continuous improvement.

  • Sound knowledge of the cleaning industry.
  • Proven ability to deliver at supervisory level.
  • Understanding of reporting requirements and sector KPIs.
  • Good PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and report analysis capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills across various levels.
  • Working towards BICSc qualification.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to motivate teams.
  • Flexible, responsible, and proactive approach.
  • Logical problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in dealing with incidents and operating under pressure.
  • Good customer service and organizational skills.
  • Supervisor/team leader qualification or working towards it.
