Position: Cleaning Operative
Location: Portobello Area

Salary: £24,346 - £24,646 (pro rata for part-time)
Hours: 20 per week, 52 weeks

As a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council, you'll be a key member of our Facilities Management team. You'll deliver a vital cleaning service across our estate to ensure our properties are safe and clean places to work or learn in. Major Tasks/Job Activities

  • Empty litter and recycling bins.
  • Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures, and fittings within a group of buildings.
  • Clean all sanitary areas, toilets, and showers, and replenish washroom consumables.
  • Perform emergency and reactive cleaning as required, e.g., removal of graffiti, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages.
  • Maintain the care and cleanliness of all equipment used.
  • Support cleaning tasks across other buildings as required.
  • Deliver to the cleaning specification requirements and cooperate with performance measurement to meet standards.

*Facilities Management has overall responsibility for keyholding to enable opening and closing of buildings. As part of this role, you will be required to be a key holder, including operation of security alarm systems, securing windows and doors, switching off lights, and ensuring premises are left safe and secure.

Requirements

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If you have spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will need to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment is contingent upon satisfactory pre-employment checks.
