Job summary

Mitie is seeking a Cleaning Auditor at John Radcliffe Hospital in Headington, Oxford. This permanent, part-time role (18 hours per week) audits cleaning efficacy across hospital facilities to ensure infection control and compliance with national standards.

You will conduct scheduled and ad-hoc audits, document findings in the audit system (e.g., Synbiotix), provide actionable feedback to support teams, and collaborate with Infection Prevention & Control teams to drive improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in auditing or quality assurance within healthcare or facilities management.
• Strong understanding of infection control principles and cleaning standards.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Competent in using digital audit tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Effective communication skills for liaising with clinical and non-clinical teams.

Purpose of the Role

To ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and infection control by conducting systematic cleaning efficacy audits across hospital facilities. The role supports compliance with national healthcare cleanliness standards and internal policies, safeguarding patient safety and operational excellence.

• Assess technical cleaning outcomes and processes, ensuring compliance with infection prevention protocols.
• Document audit findings accurately using approved audit management systems (e.g., Synbiotix).
• Provide clear, unbiased feedback to service managers and domestic teams, highlighting non-conformances and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Infection Prevention & Control teams during audits and elevate issues promptly.
• Monitor trends and produce reports for Quality & Performance meetings.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and training related to cleaning standards.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of Functional Risk (FR) area classifications and cleaning frequencies.
• Familiarity with NHS compliance frameworks and Health & Safety legislation.

• This role involves regular site visits across wards, theatres, and high-risk areas.
• Training will be provided on internal auditing procedures and compliance systems.
