Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Cleaning Area Manager to lead a small team of cleaners, manage rotas, holidays and performance, and deliver training while maintaining high cleanliness standards.

You will conduct weekly cleaning audits, uphold safety protocols, and adapt to a fast-paced retail environments. The role involves potential work at height and use of specialist equipment in a facilities management context.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Previous supervisory or managerial experience in a cleaning environment.
  • Willingness to work at height and follow safety protocols.
  • COSHH/IOSH training desirable but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team, manage rotas, holidays and performance.
  • Deliver cleaning operatives training and keep records updated.
  • Carry out weekly cleaning audits and escalate concerns.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and work with possible heavy equipment.

About The Role:
Working pattern:

Monday to Friday (Some weekends when the business requires)

Holiday entitlement will be accrued on a pro-rata basis in line with weeks worked.

As Cleaning Area Manager, you will ensure that cleaning staff perform their duties efficiently, maintain high cleanliness standards, and contribute to a safe and hygienic environment.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Managing a small team, looking after rotas, holidays, and performance and responsible for delivering training to all cleaning operatives and ensuring all records are updated correctly.
  • Responsible for conducting cleaning audits on a weekly basis and escalating any areas of concern
  • An awareness of the need to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure work environment.
  • This role may require the use of heavy industrial equipment, specialist chemicals and working at heights.
The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
  • You must have Right to Work in the UK
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • A background working in cleaning/ food manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
  • Willingness to work at height.
  • COSHH and IOSH trained desirable.
