Job summary

Kindred is seeking a dedicated Cleaner to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming environments across our sites in the UK. You will clean classrooms, toilets and common areas to support wellbeing and positive experiences for staff and visitors.

We value independence, reliability and pride in delivering high cleaning standards. The role requires an enhanced DBS check and adherence to COSHH and health & safety regulations, with fixed shift patterns.

Qualifications

• DBS check required.
• Ability to complete physical tasks with reasonable adjustments.

• English communication is required (not necessarily first language).
• Shift patterns will be fixed.

Responsibilities

• General Cleaning Tasks: Dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors; clean and sanitise surfaces, touchpoints, and furniture; restock soap, towels and toilet rolls.
• Specialist & Deep Cleaning: periodic deep-cleaning tasks such as carpet cleaning and floor polishing; use appropriate cleaning materials for different surfaces.
• Health, Safety & Compliance: operate cleaning equipment safely; store equipment properly; follow COSHH and health & safety regulations; report issues promptly.
• Teamwork & Independence: work independently with minimal supervision while supporting colleagues as needed.
• Customer Care & Presentation: maintain a professional, inclusive, and welcoming environment; be polite and respectful around staff, clients, and visitors.

Responsibilities:

As a cleaner with Kindred, you will play an important role in creating a safe and welcoming environment for staff, visitors, and service users. Your duties will include:

• General Cleaning Tasks: Dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors. Cleaning and sanitising surfaces, touchpoints, and furniture. Emptying bins and ensuring waste is disposed of correctly. Replenishing supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet rolls.
• Specialist & Deep Cleaning: Carrying out periodic deep‑cleaning tasks (e.g., carpet cleaning, polishing floors). Using appropriate cleaning materials for different surfaces to maintain standards and protect equipment.
• Health, Safety & Compliance: Using cleaning equipment safely (e.g., buffers, steamers, vacuums), ensuring proper storage after use. Following health & safety regulations, including safe use of cleaning chemicals (COSHH). Reporting any maintenance issues, hazards, or damages promptly.
• Teamwork & Independence: Working independently to complete tasks on time with minimal supervision. Supporting colleagues as needed to ensure high overall cleanliness standards.
• Customer Care & Presentation: Ensuring cleaning standards reflect Kindred's commitment to a professional, inclusive, and welcoming environment. Being polite and respectful when working in areas where staff, clients, or visitors are present.

Requirements:

Successful candidates will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

• Able to complete the physical demands of the role with reasonable adjustments.
• To be able to follow instructions (including written) and work safely for periods of time on their own.
• Complete tasks within a specified timeframe.
• An ability to communicate in English, although English as a first language is not a requirement.
• Able to fulfil the shift patterns because the timings of the role would be fixed.
