Job summary

Shetland Islands Council is inviting applications for a part-time Cleaning post based at Dunrossness Primary School, Shetland. The role involves cleaning designated areas across schools and community spaces, ensuring hygiene and neatness in line with council standards.

The post is term-time, 15 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, with pro rata holiday entitlement. Distant Islands Allowance is included in the pay rate. We welcome flexible working and consideration for job-sharing.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning public spaces is desirable.
• Ability to work in a team and individually.
• Flexible to term-time, part-time schedule and school holidays.

Responsibilities

• Clean designated areas within schools, offices, halls and community centres.
• Maintain hygienic conditions across reception, stairs and lifts as required.
• Work as part of a team or alone under supervision.

Advertisement Details

The Cleaner will undertake, individually or as part of a team, the cleaning of designated areas, which could be within school premises, offices, games halls, community centres and/or associated areas to ensure that they are kept in a clean and hygienic condition.

The range of cleaning duties applies to any part of the associated areas, the frequency and allocation of the duties being designated by the Council. The associated areas' includes reception/waiting areas, communal areas, stairways and lifts.

• The grade of this post is AB
• Rate of pay shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.5523 per hour
• Term Time Part Time post for 15 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, plus 6.24 weeks (pro rata) paid holiday to be taken during school holidays.
• A relocation package does not apply to this post
