Salary: £12.60 per hour (including a Real Living Wage supplement)

Hours: 15 hours per week. Monday – Friday 2pm – 5pm

Join Northumbria Police’s Business Services team as a Cleaner, playing an integral role in maintaining cleanliness, safety, and functionality in custody suites. This behind-the-scenes role involves working in a police station environment, focusing on cleaning duties that contribute to a secure and hygienic setting.

What will I be doing?

  • Using specialist equipment and chemicals to clean washrooms and kitchens.
  • Vacuuming and mopping floors.
  • Operating floor machines such as scrubbers and dryers.
  • Emptying bins and performing general cleaning duties.
  • Maintaining knowledge of health and safety legislation and adhering to safety standards.
  • Cleaning within custody areas, including cells and medical rooms.
  • This role requires physical effort and working at heights.

This is a vital role in our Police Force. No prior cleaning experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a reasonable level of fitness. Punctuality and reliability are essential.
