Job summary

Newcastle City Council is looking for reliable people to join our Facility Services team as cleaners at Discovery Museum, Blandford Square, NE1 4JA. You will clean corridors, classrooms, offices and toilet areas with the necessary equipment, and be responsible for emptying bins, mopping and vacuuming to meet fixed deadlines.

No prior experience is required as full training will be provided. The role is 10 hours per week (8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, Monday to Friday) and pay is £13.45 per hour,

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of written and spoken English is required due to chemical use.

Responsibilities

• Clean designated areas such as corridors, classrooms, offices and toilet areas using required equipment.
• Empty bins, mop and vacuum floors to meet fixed deadlines.
• Regularly stoop, bend and lift as part of daily duties.

What we are looking for:

Newcastle City Council are currently looking for reliable and friendly people with a positive attitude to join our Facility Services team as a Cleaner. No experience is necessary as full training will be provided.

About the role:

Working as a team and using your own initiative, daily duties will involve cleaning designated areas such as corridors, classrooms, offices and toilet areas using required equipment. Whilst working to fixed deadlines, responsibilities include emptying bins, mopping and vacuuming floors, so regular stooping, bending and lifting will be required. To carry out these tasks, candidates will need to have a basic understanding of both written and spoken English due to the use of chemicals.

Facility Services and Civic Management work across the city and Gateshead providing building cleaning, caretaking, school meals and welfare catering services.

We have a large team of cleaners, cleaner supervisors, facility supervisors (caretakers), catering assistants, assistant chefs and chefs working various hours and shifts in schools and public buildings.
