Job description

The successful candidate will undertake, as part of a team, the cleaning of designated areas within the school premises to ensure that they are kept in a clean and hygienic condition.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Cleaning, washing, sweeping and vacuum cleaning.
  • Emptying litter and re-cycling bins.
  • Polishing and dusting of designated areas including furniture and fixtures.
  • Cleaning toilets and shower areas, replenish toilet paper and soap.
  • Using powered equipment when necessary.
  • Maintaining compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace.
  • Operating within the Council's policies on equal opportunities and equality.
  • Managing information in accordance with the Council's information management guidelines and Data Protection legislation.
  • Reducing the Council's carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan.
  • Reporting any concerns or suspicions of child or vulnerable adult abuse.
  • Undertaking any other reasonable duty corresponding to the salary and responsibility level of the job.
Requirements:
  • Essential: Experience of being employed as a cleaner.
  • Essential: Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Essential: Ability to understand and speak Welsh and English, with ability to read and write simple messages in both languages.

Gwynedd Council operates internally through the medium of Welsh and offers all its services bilingually. The applicant will be required to reach the linguistic level noted as one of the essential skills in the Person Specification.
