Job description

Location: Gatwick Immigration Removal Centre, Perimeter Road, West Sussex, RH6 0PQ
Hours: Full-time (38.5 hrs per week)
Salary: £24,366.78 + Company Benefits

At Serco, we take pride in maintaining a clean and safe environment for those in our care. We have an exciting opportunity for a Cleaning Operative to join our dedicated team at Gatwick Immigration Removal Centre.

By joining our Cleaning Services team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that all assigned areas are cleaned to the highest standard using the provided equipment. You will also keep schedules updated, maintain records of tools, and carry out any other duties as directed by the Facilities Manager or Senior Engineer.

Your Responsibilities

1. Maintain cleaning stock within designated areas.
2. Comply with Health & Safety Cleaning Procedures.
3. Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, and wet vac machines.
4. Clean all assigned areas according to the Cleaning Schedule.
5. Complete additional duties as directed by the Facilities Manager or Senior Engineer.

What You’ll Need

1. Previous cleaning experience is essential.
2. A Basic Health & Safety qualification.
3. Ability to operate cleaning equipment.
4. Strong communication skills to interact effectively at all levels.
5. A flexible and proactive approach, with the ability to self-motivate and prioritize workload.

Please note: This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. All offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office. You must be able to provide a 5-year checkable history for vetting and referencing.
