Job description

Grangehurst Primary School is a large two-form entry primary school surrounded by fabulous grounds on the northern edge of Coventry close to the borders of Warwickshire and Leicestershire with very good access to major road networks. We are nearly at capacity having over 400 children on roll and sharing our school building and grounds with a 52-place playgroup.

Our staff are a mixture of experienced and newer teachers and leaders working in close partnership with our amazing team of support staff. Our grounds and school building are well maintained, with many breakout spaces for learning including a large forest school area. Our children access their learning in a variety of ways and make use of the latest technologies; for example, children have access to over 150 Chromebooks and over 100 iPads. This provides numerous opportunities for effective learning to take place. We have our own adaptive provision for those pupils with the highest levels of need and have developed our own Social Emotional Wellbeing (SEW) programme to support all children across the school with their emotional development.

We take staff development seriously with weekly opportunities for teachers and teaching support staff to receive current training. Many of our staff choose to undertake additional training e.g. NPQs and the school supports them to do this. Our staff room is a relaxing environment where staff can hopefully escape from the hustle and bustle of class and everyday school life. There is also a separate PPA room for teachers.

As a teacher at Grangehurst you will need to:

  • Have high expectation for yourself and your pupils
  • Have the highest standards of teaching and the ability to make learning fun and memorable
  • Have a commitment to helping all our children learn the curriculum and develop into well rounded young people
  • Have desire to go that extra mile and make a difference
  • Have a good understanding of the national curriculum and a willingness to engage in further professional training and development
  • Be open to working as part of a team to improve outcomes for all pupils
  • Ideally have had experience of teaching in Upper KS2, preferably Year 6 preparing children for their Statutory End of Key Stage Assessments and moving onto Secondary School.

As a school we can offer you:

  • A Good School with Outstanding Areas as confirmed by OFSTED in November 2021
  • Enthusiastic, Friendly and Happy children
  • A strong staff team who strive to achieve the highest standards of teaching and learning for all
  • Innovative and creative approaches to teaching & learning
  • A forward thinking curriculum
  • Comprehensive professional development and high quality learning opportunities
  • A leadership team that will support you to have a work life balance and find your full potential

We are recruiting now for September 2025. Ideally, we are looking for an experienced teacher from M3 - M6 to join our team of dedicated staff and join our Year 6 Team. However, we would consider applications from more experienced teachers and ECTs who can demonstrate that they have gained considerable experience of working in/across KS2, particularly Upper Key Stage Two.

Interested… then you will probably want to ask us lots of questions about the job so feel free to make contact if you are thinking of applying. We can chat to you on the phone or schedule a MS Teams or Zoom meeting. Better still, why not come and visit us, you can come in for a cup of tea (or coffee) and have a look around for yourself so that you get a real sense of the school and what we are about before you apply.

In the meantime if you would like to find out more here is our school website:www.grangehurst.coventry.sch.ukwhich will provide you with more information about all that we get up to!

With successful candidates being invited to interviews on either Thursday 22nd or Friday 23rd May 2025.

Our School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced criminal record check via the DBS.
