Job description

Hope View School Teacher KS4 (September 2025)

Hope View School are seeking to appoint a teacher of KS4 from September 2025 to work at our Upper School Site in Chilham near Canterbury.

We are looking to appoint a central class teacher to deliver the core academic subjects (English, Maths and Science) at KS4, as well as other subjects such as PSHE and Life Skills. The successful applicant will be expected to deliver these core subjects at Entry Level Certificate and Functional Skills level.

Experience of working with pupils with Special Educational Needs would be an advantage but is not essential. Willingness to work within a small team and an organised but flexible approach is crucial. High standards of classroom management, professionalism, and expectations of pupils are also required, as is the ability to be empathetic, understanding, and supportive of pupils and their needs. This position would be ideal for a dynamic, hard-working, and committed individual looking to build a career in this sector.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our supportive, well-established staff team. Benefits include a Company Pension Scheme, competitive annual salary (salaried, not pro-rata), staff rewards schemes, access to CPD and uniform, as well as paid holidays (up to 16 weeks per year).

Post requirements:
  • A relevant degree and teaching qualification.
  • Experience of teaching KS3/4.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a small team.
  • An understanding of the ethos of the school and the ability to work within this ethos to support and develop all pupils regardless of ability, education, behavioural, social, or emotional needs.
  • Commitment to playing a full part in the life of the school, including teaching, pastoral care, curriculum enrichment activities, and building positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Experience of teaching within a Special Educational Needs environment would be an advantage.

Additional key points include:

  • A willingness to support pupils in lessons, pastoral care, and curriculum activities, fostering positive relationships.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and the importance of protecting pupils' health and well-being, adhering to school policies on child protection and safeguarding.
  • The successful applicant will undergo a period of induction and supervision overseen by their Line Manager, including a 6-month probationary period.
  • All shortlisted applicants are required to complete an application form and a Self Disclosure form to comply with Safeguarding legislation.
  • Staff are expected to be on site at 7.50 am, ready to receive pupils at 8.30 am. Pupils depart at 3.15 pm. Staff must remain on site until all daily business is concluded.
