Job description

Help young people find their focus – and their future

We’re working with a brilliant SEND school for pupils aged 7–16 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. They’re looking for a Classroom Behaviour Mentor who can be a steady, positive presence in the school day – someone who sees the potential, not the problem.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Building strong, trusted relationships with pupils who’ve faced barriers to learning

  • Supporting positive behaviour and helping students regulate emotions in and out of class

  • Using de-escalation strategies to keep learning on track

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to create a safe, structured environment

  • Encouraging resilience, self-belief, and better learning habits every day

What you’ll need:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs (paid or voluntary)

  • A calm, confident approach and the ability to think on your feet

  • Patience, empathy, and a good sense of humour

  • A willingness to learn new strategies and work as part of a team

Why join Protocol Education?
