An educational organization in Cookstown is looking for a Classroom Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs. The role involves assisting with learning, implementing care plans, and helping students with their daily activities. Candidates should hold a Level 2 qualification and have relevant experience. A strong commitment to supporting individual learning is essential, along with effective communication skills.
NOTES TO JOB APPLICANTS

Shortlisting will be carried out on the basis of the essential criteria set out in Section 1 below, using the information provided by you on your application form.
Please note that the Selection Panel reserves the right to shortlist only those applicants that it believes most strongly meet the criteria for the role.
In the event of an excessive number of applications, the Selection Panel also reserves the right to apply any desirable criteria as outlined in Section 3 at shortlisting, in which case these will be applied in the order listed. It is important therefore that you also clearly demonstrate on your application form how you meet any desirable criteria.
SECTION 1 - ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
The following are essential criteria which will initially be measured at the shortlisting stage and which may also be further explored during the interview/selection stage. You should therefore make it clear on your application form how, and to what extent you meet these criteria. Failure to do so may result in you not being shortlisted.

Option 1:
Hold a minimum of a Level 2 (or equivalent)* qualification in a relevant area from a recognised accredited awarding body.
*Qualification must be at Certificate or Diploma level. Award level is not acceptable.
AND
Have a minimum of 6 weeks experience which has been gained either through working in a formal learning environment or through a placement completed as part of your level 2 (or equivalent) qualification.
OR
Option 2:
Have a minimum of 12 months’ experience of working in a formal learning environment.

Have completed training relevant to the role/statement, for example:

ASD/ADHD
Hold a Level 3 (or equivalent level) qualification in a relevant area from a recognised accredited awarding body.
Hold a minimum of level 2 passes in English and/or Mathematics, or higher-level qualifications
Experience
Additional working experience in a formal learning environment.
Specific experience of working with a children/ young person with special educational needs/ particular need as per statement
Experience of working as a Classroom Assistant with pupils in a post primary setting
Ability to use digital technologies to assist in learning and the preparation of resources
