Harvey Wash Ltd is a small, family-run Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialist based near the A12 in Kelvedon, Essex. You will join a dedicated team to work on a range of classic vehicles, from routine maintenance to major mechanical and electrical work, including restoration.

The role suits someone who loves classic cars and takes pride in doing things properly, with opportunities to learn our specialist vehicles and work on unique, historically valuable cars.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working on classic or vintage vehicles — essential.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and practical problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and patience.
• Ability to diagnose faults rather than simply replace parts.
• Good communication and professional customer interaction.
• Good numeracy and legible handwriting for workshop documentation.
• Interest in understanding how things work and solving problems.
• Experience with modern vehicle diagnostics and electrical systems is a plus.
• Rolls-Royce and Bentley experience preferred but isn’t essential.

Full time | Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm | Kelvedon, Essex

A chance to work on some seriously interesting cars!

Harvey Wash Ltd is a small, family-run Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialist based just off the A12 in Kelvedon, Essex.

We are a Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialist, with nearly 50 years’ experience working on vehicles ranging from the 1920s through to the 2000s. Alongside our Rolls-Royce and Bentley work, we also look after a variety of other classic and specialist vehicles.

We are looking for an experienced classic vehicle technician/mechanic to join our small team.

This isn’t a job for someone who wants to spend their days working through routine servicing on the same cars. Our workshop is full of unusual, technically interesting vehicles, and the work can range from routine maintenance to major mechanical and electrical work, diagnosis, repair and restoration.

What you’ll be working on

The role will involve a varied mix of:

• Engine removal, dismantling and rebuilding
• Mechanical repairs and restoration
• Servicing and maintenance
• Electrical fault-finding and rewiring
• Diagnosis and troubleshooting
• Working on both pre-war and post-war Rolls-Royce, Bentley and other classic vehicles
• Some work on more modern vehicles, including electronic diagnostics
• Working alongside the team to manage individual jobs from diagnosis through to completion

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves classic cars and takes pride in doing things properly.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience working on classic or vintage vehicles — this is essential
• Strong mechanical knowledge and practical problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail…and patience!
• The ability to diagnose faults rather than simply replace parts
• A conscientious, reliable approach to your work
• Good communication skills and the ability to speak professionally with customers when required
• Good numeracy and legible handwriting for workshop documentation
• An interest in understanding how things work and figuring out problems
• Ideally, some experience with modern vehicle diagnostics and electrical systems

Rolls-Royce and Bentley experience is preferred, but isn’t essential. The right person with strong classic-car experience and the ability to learn our specialist vehicles will be welcomed.

£28,000–£40,000 per year, with the level offered reflecting your experience, independence and specialist knowledge.

Someone with extensive Rolls-Royce and Bentley experience will naturally be considered towards the top of the range.
