Class Underwriter – Global Property Delegated Authorities

Job Profile Summary

Underwriting of the Global Property Delegated Authorities account in London, as well as formulating strategy, business plans and forecasts with the Head of Global Property Delegated Authorities

Job Description

  • Underwrite in accordance with the most current Letter of Authority issued to this jobholder.
  • Assist in the execution of the agreed Global Property Delegated Authorities strategy and the associated planning and reporting.
  • Work with Harry Woolf and the Team to further the development of both the USA and International portfolios of the Global Unit(s).
  • Underwrite and maintain position in both lead and following market capacities.
  • Ensure a full and comprehensive service is provided to brokers.
  • Active involvement in the marketing of the business Unit(s) - seek out new business opportunities through liaison with brokers and clients.
  • Attend monthly meetings (leading as required) and report on progress.
  • Monitor figures, aggregates, claims and report accordingly. Carrying out regular analytical reviews to improve the performance of the account.
  • Developing use of modelled data for pricing and exposure management.
  • Travel as required.
  • Work with the Reinsurance Purchasing Team on programme design and support them with the execution of agreed plans.
  • Training and development of junior underwriting and modelling staff, including annual Appraisals and Career Path Development.
  • Specific account analysis as required.
  • Responsibility for the accuracy and upkeep of all written premium data on Charisma for all risks written within the area of responsibility
  • Liaison with Claims, Pricing, Exposure Management, DA Oversight, Wordings and any other Chaucer Department as required.
  • Any other ad hoc duties as may be required.

Regulatory Responsibilities

Comply with all policies and procedures and ensure that due regard is paid to providing good customer outcomes and the fair treatment of customers.

Manage the relationships with Customers, Agents and Service Providers:

  • Advise, assist and service customers on insurance and risk matters to promote customers’ satisfaction.
  • Foster positive relationships with Customers and attain an understanding of their needs.
  • Ensure that Customer Complaints are promptly identified, recorded and referred as appropriate.
  • Complete all required annual product review assessments to agreed timescales with approvals obtained and recorded
  • Follow all Chaucer Group Product Governance processes in the UCM and obtain appropriate approvals
  • Ensure that the principles of providing good customer outcomes and the fair treatment of customers are upheld by Agents and Service Providers.
