Protocol Education is proud to be working in partnership with a brand-new, purpose-built SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school based in Southend, as it seeks to appoint an experienced and passionate Class Teacher to join its founding team.

This is a rare opportunity to play a vital role in establishing an inclusive, nurturing learning environment where pupils with complex behavioural and emotional needs are supported to thrive and achieve.

About the School

Opening in central Southend, this specialist school will cater to up to 65 pupils with SEMH and associated needs, including residential provision for 15 students. The school is part of a well-respected Trust committed to high standards of academic, social, emotional, and vocational development.

The curriculum combines formal, informal, and enriched learning opportunities, supporting young people in becoming confident, independent members of their communities.

The school ethos places strong emphasis on positive relationships, structure, and emotional safety—creating a space where both pupils and staff can grow and succeed.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

QTS (or other recognised teaching qualification)

A strong understanding of, or commitment to developing expertise in, SEMH needs

Experience of working with vulnerable children and managing challenging behaviours
