Job summary

Driver Hire/dh Recruitment (Torbay & Barnstaple) is seeking an HGV Class 2 Driver Operative for a hands-on role across Devon and the wider South West. You will drive Class 2 vehicles to sites and support outdoor site work as part of an operational crew.

This permanent position offers a mix of day and night shifts, some weekends, and occasional overnight stays. Minimum 30 hours per week with potential for permanent placement.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid UK Category C Class 2 driving licence.
• Driver CPC qualification.
• Digital Tachograph Card.
• Previous Class 2 driving experience.
• Good physical fitness.
• Flexible hours and locations.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather.
• Reliable and safety‑focused attitude.
• Able to pass random drug and alcohol testing.
• Experience in highways, construction, line marking, or road maintenance is useful.

Responsibilities

• Drive Class 2 vehicles to sites and support outdoor site work.
• Load and unload equipment; prepare gear.
• Assist line marking and surface treatment projects.
• Work across Devon and the South West; travel as required.
• Be available for day and night shifts, weekends, and occasional nights away.
