Job summary

Gategroup is recruiting a Class 2 HGV Driver on a fixed-term contract to 31 October 2026, with potential to go permanent. Based in Birmingham (Unit 29, Elmdon Trading Estate, B37 7HE), the role offers a 4 on 4 off pattern and 0600–1800 shifts, plus overtime at 1.5x and free onsite parking.

You will drive 15–18 tonne liveried vehicles, perform vehicle checks, load catering uplifts to aircraft, and coordinate with flight crews while following Road Traffic Acts and airport by-laws.

Qualifications

• Valid clean HGV CAT C Driving Licence (up to 3 points may be considered).
• Digital Tachograph knowledge and possession of a digital tachograph card.
• Driver CPC qualification essential.
• Previous HGV experience desirable; Airport Airside Driving would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of the Road Traffic Act.

Responsibilities

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Driving HGV 15 – 18 tonne company liveried vehicles in a secure & controlled environment
• Carrying out vehicle checks prior to use
• Loading and unloading catering uplifts to aircraft
• Liaison with flight crew and working in collaboration with other ground handling suppliers
• Maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the vehicle
• Adhering to all Road Traffic Acts and additional Airport By- laws
• Additional duties such as Bar and stores packing or search and sealing will be a daily requirement along with any associated paperwork.
• Plus any additional warehouse duties

Requirements of the HGV Driver:

Previous experience in a catering or hospitality role is desirable but not essential. You must be able to work shifts and be keen to learn. In addition to job-related training, you will develop your skills in team work, time management, multi-tasking, communication and attention to detail.

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK, undertake a CRC (Criminal Record Check) and provide 5 years of checkable referencing history. For anytime spent outside the UK exceeding 6 months, you must be able to provide a CRC (Criminal Record Check) for that country.
