Job description

Overview

Blue Arrow Bristol are recruiting Class 2 drivers to work from their depot in Avonmouth in Bristol for one of the UK’s market leading retailers. Roles are temp to perm – after 12 weeks you will be offered a permanent contract directly with the client. The client is happy to accept newly qualified drivers to build your experience and progression.

Requirements and screening

All drivers will have to pass a driving assessment, a drug and alcohol test (and be happy to be re-tested occasionally) and also undergo a Disclosure Scotland (DBS) clearance. The company has a strict anti drugs and alcohol policy and conducts random drug and alcohol tests for 2-3 staff every day.

Work patterns and compensation

The start times are between 4am-6am with around 50 hours per week. Roles are Monday to Friday only – no weekend work.

Pay rate: £17.00 per hour. Starting annual salary once the contract is obtained will be £42,432 + overtime + quarterly bonuses.

Role details

Roles are very physical: about 60% of the day loading and unloading products. You will work with a driver’s mate at all times.

As a Class 2 delivery driver, duties include:

• Completing up to 5 deliveries daily
• Manual loading and unloading – extensive training provided
• Completing relevant paperwork
• Using PODs

Candidate requirements

• Category C driving licence, up to date CPC and Digi Tacho cards
• No more than 6 points on your driving licence and only for minor offences
• Physical fitness
• Reliability and trustworthiness
• Good customer service skills and willingness to represent client’s values
• Good level of spoken English

Additional notes

All drivers will need to pass a driving assessment (theory and practical test as well as a drug & alcohol test) and complete 1 week’s worth of training (mainly manual handling and safe lifting practices) before starting to drive.
