Job summary

Driver Hire Southampton is recruiting an experienced Class 2 Driver for a well-established general haulage company. This is a full-time role with long-distance palletised freight deliveries across the UK; start time 7:00am, Monday to Friday with occasional Saturdays on a rota basis.

Requirements include a valid UK Class 2 licence, CPC and Digital Tachograph card, and a minimum of 2 years' Class 2 experience. Load-strapping and safety awareness are essential, with reliable, independent work ethic.

Qualifications

• Valid UK Class 2 (Cat C) licence.
• Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph card.
• Minimum 2 years' Class 2 driving experience.
• Experience strapping loads securely.
• Experience driving 18-tonne or 26-tonne curtain-side tail-lift vehicles.
• Good understanding of drivers' hours and health & safety regulations.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• Reliable, safety-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Long-distance deliveries across the UK.
• Deliver palletised freight to commercial customers.
• Complete daily vehicle checks and accurately maintaining paperwork.
• Use of a pump truck for unloading pallets; some sites may unload via forklift.
• Adhere to safety and drivers' hours regulations.
