Job summary

Bristol Waste Company is seeking an HGV Class 2 Driver Loader based in Avonmouth, Bristol. The role involves driving the company vehicle, loading and unloading waste/recycling to meet customer requirements, and adhering to company procedures and legal rules.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid Category C licence (Class 2), Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Able to use mobile IT equipment and complete daily paperwork accurate records.
• Communicate clearly with supervisors, controllers, colleagues and the public.
• Knowledge of daily vehicle checks and maintaining vehicle roadworthiness.
• Awareness of health, safety and environmental requirements when handling waste.
• Experience with daily vehicle checks and defect reporting.
• Experience in waste, recycling, cleansing or commercial collections is desirable.
• Understanding of safe and legal HGV driving including Working Time and tachograph rules.
• Experience of outdoor physical work; moving bins and handling recycling containers.

Responsibilities

• Drive / operate vehicles and equipment according to safety procedures and licensing.
• Tipping of vehicle at designated facilities to load/unload waste per policy and legal requirements.
• Undertake training and instruction as required (including Driver Induction).
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform daily checks on vehicles driven.
• Deal with colleagues, customers and non-company personnel in a polite, professional manner.
• Work flexibly between locations to provide operational cover across all services.
• Comply with Bristol Waste Company reporting procedures.
