Job summary

UPS is recruiting a permanent Delivery Driver (Class 2 LGV) for Polar Speed UPS in Washington, Tyne and Wear. You will load, unload and securely deliver pharmaceutical consignments to GP surgeries, pharmacies and hospitals, with temperature-controlled requirements.

The role requires 2+ years’ driving experience and a Class 2 LGV licence (ideally ≤3 points). DBS and three years of references apply. Hours are 40 per week, Monday–Friday, with a 6:15am start. Salary: £33,732 per annum (£16.22/hour).

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a temperature-controlled delivery environment

Responsibilities

• Managing the loading and unloading of consignments
• Ensuring correct and safe loading into the delivery vehicle
• Maintaining vehicle temperature control throughout deliveries
• Conducting vehicle safety checks and CCTV/refrigeration unit checks
• Keeping cab and chambers clean and organised
• Reporting defects per process
• Complying with UK and IRL HGV driving regulations
• Delivering pharmaceutical consignments to GP surgeries, pharmacies, wholesalers and hospitals

Job Location: Polar Speed UPS, Unit 2 Glover Network Centre, Glover Industrial Estate, Spire Road, Washington, Tyne and Wear, NE37 3HB

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week, 6.15am start

Salary: £33,732 P/A, £16.22 per hour

Job Purpose And Key Responsibilities

• Managing the scanning of packages or pallets to your delivery vehicle


• Ensuring the safe and secure loading of all consignments to your vehicle using the appropriate equipment


• Assisting with the loading and unloading of deliveries using the appropriate equipment


• Ensuring the vehicle is always kept at the correct temperature


• Conducting vehicle safety checks as outlined in documentation provided including the refrigeration unit on the vehicle


• Maintaining the cleanliness of both cab and chambers


• Reporting all defects as per the defect reporting process


• Adherence to all legislation governing HGV driving in the UK and IRL


• Ensuring the drivers card is downloaded upon completion of each shift


• Always demonstrating a professional and safe driving competency


• Excellent communication and customer service skills


• Delivering and collecting of Pharmaceutical consignments to addresses, GP surgeries, Retail Pharmacies, Wholesalers and Hospitals

Qualifications And Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years driving experience


• Must hold a Class 2 category driving licence with ideally no more than 3 points


• Previous relevant experience with temperature control delivery driving is advantageous


• Team player mentality with the ability to work on own initiative


• Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritize workload
