Job summary

Driver Hire Blackburn are currently recruiting for an experienced Class 1 Shunter Driver to join our client's operation on a temporary basis, with ongoing work available for the right driver. The role requires busy yard experience and, importantly, has experience using yard shunting tugs.

Pay is £15.25 per hour - Days and £16.25 per hour - Nights, with shifts at 06:00, 14:00 and 22:00 starts. You must hold a valid HGV Class 1 licence and have shunting experience.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence required.
• Previous Class 1 shunting experience essential.
• Previous experience using shunting tugs is essential.
• Experience coupling and uncoupling trailers.
• Good understanding of yard safety procedures.
• Reliable and professional approach to work.
• Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers safely around the site and yard.
• Shunt trailers between loading bays and designated areas.
• Use shunting tugs to move trailers efficiently.
• Couple and uncouple trailers.
• Complete trailer and vehicle checks.
• Position trailers accurately at loading bays.
• Work safely within a busy yard environment.
• Communicate with warehouse and transport teams.
• Follow all site health & safety procedures.
