Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. in Northfleet is seeking a Class 1 Shunter to join our team. This permanent, full-time position runs a 4 on/4 off shift pattern, totaling 42 hours per week.

The role includes a base salary of £35,583.38 plus a shift premium of £3,231.84, with generous holiday and pension benefits. The successful candidate will ensure safe operation of the TUG unit, manage trailers, assist external hauliers, and complete transport area checks.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Class 1 licence.
• Driver Qualification Card (CPC) required.
• Less than 6 penalty points on licence.
• Shunter experience preferred.
• Must be able to complete manual handling tasks.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the TUG unit is safe to operate and monitor H&S of the transport area.
• Effectively manage trailers on and off the bays, both at the RDC and over the mill.
• Support external hauliers for collections / deliveries and internal movements between site locations.
• Complete transport area checks using systems and methods provided.
• Monitor usage and allocation of stand trailers.
• Prepare trailers for loading including laying out straps and pulling curtains.
