Job summary

Grundon Waste Management Ltd in Banbury is seeking a dynamic Class 1 LGV Driver to join our Artic Movements team. You will drive and operate waste collection vehicles, conduct daily checks, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while delivering reliable service across locations.

The role reports to the Site Manager and offers a driver bonus scheme with fully funded CPC training on working days. A supportive environment and opportunities to grow within a leading waste management company

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 (C+E) licence and DQC required.
• Up-to-date Digi Card and knowledge of tachographs.
• Strong knowledge of analogue and digital tachographs, current driving and working time regulations, and the Highway Code.
• Effective communicator with good interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
• Able to interpret maps and directions and work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily vehicle checks, defect/damage reports, and follow escalation processes.
• Comply with tachograph legislation, Working Time Directive, SOPs, risk assessments, and H&S requirements (including PPE).
• Report incidents, near misses, contaminated bins, and non-conforming waste promptly with accurate paperwork.
• Maintain vehicles to a high standard, including cleanliness and wheel nut torque checks.
• Provide excellent service to colleagues and customers, showing reliability and timekeeping.
• Be flexible with working hours and available for occasional overtime to meet business needs.
• Ensure full compliance with company policies and safety procedures.
• Undertake additional duties as requested by management within capabilities.

Working Hours :Monday- Friday 7:00am-16:30pm and alternative Saturdays (7:00am-11:30am)

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting our mission by developing your skills and learning to drive and operate a range of waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently, in line with company standards. You will contribute to delivering a dependable waste collection and disposal service across multiple locations, ensuring the safety of yourself, your crew, and the public. With a strong commitment to customer care, you’ll help us maintain the highest standards of service at all times.

What will you do

• Carry out daily vehicle checks, complete defect/damage reports, and follow the correct escalation process.
• Comply with tachograph legislation, Working Time Directive, and all company SOPs, risk assessments, and H&S requirements (including PPE).

• Be flexible towards working hours and be available for occasional overtime to meet business and depot needs
• Ensure full compliance with all Company policies and procedures including health and safety and employment.
• Any other duties, such as ad hoc projects, as requested by the job holder’s Manager/Supervisor or the Board of Directors that are within the skills and capabilities of the job holder.

About You

• Valid Class 1 (category C+E) licence
• Driver Qualification Card (DQC)
• Up-to-date Driver's Digi Card
• Strong knowledge of analogue and digital tachographs, current driving and working time regulations, and the Highway Code.
• Basic understanding of relevant health & safety and, ideally, waste legislation.
• Effective communicator with good interpersonal skills and a professional, positive attitude.
• Able to interpret maps and directions confidently and work independently or as part of a team.
• Demonstrates behaviours aligned with company values, showing flexibility and a willingness to undertake additional tasks, hours, and training as required.
