Job summary

Great Bear in Burton Latimer is seeking experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers for permanent full-time roles on the Weetabix contract. Join a 24/7 operation delivering palletised goods to Regional Distribution Centres nationwide.

You’ll work in a 3on3off/4on4off pattern, with nights included, and earn £15.06 per hour plus overtime and night allowances. Applicants should have a valid C+E licence and DCPC/Tachograph cards, and a solid safety record.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience.
• No more than 6 points and no disqualifying convictions.
• Current DCPC and Tachograph cards.
• Good understanding of Drivers' Hours Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver palletised goods to customer premises safely and professionally.
• Complete deliveries across the UK using Curtain sided vehicles.
• Report delays or issues to Transport team at shift start.
• Ensure PODs are signed and paperwork completed accurately.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and report defects.
• Adhere to tachograph rules and Road Transport Directive.
• Maintain high standard of customer service and appearance.

Job Description

We’re looking for experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our Great Bear team in Burton Latimer, supporting deliveries for key customers on our Weetabix contract.

This is a fantastic opportunity to secure a permanent, full-time driving role with a 24/7 operation, delivering palletised goods to Regional Distribution Centres nationwide.

Shift patterns: 3on3off/4on4off rotating AM/PM, including nights, contracted to between 33 & 44 hours per week, various start/finish times.

Salary: £15.06 per hour, overtime rate paid x1.3 & £1 for 4 on 4 off & an additional £1.30 per hour if worked nights, paid weekly

What you’ll be doing

• Carry out safe, professional deliveries to customer premises.
• Complete palletised general haulage deliveries to Regional Distribution Centres across the UK using Curtain sided vehicles, with most deliveries completed as backdoor tips.
• Support occasional driver tipping or multi-drop deliveries depending on customer demand.
• Report to the Transport team at the start of each shift and communicate any delays, delivery issues or load discrepancies promptly.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and ensure PODs are signed and returned to the Transport Office.
• Follow company rules and procedures, including health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Manage your working time in line with the Road Transport Directive and adhere to tachograph rules and regulations.
• Complete daily vehicle checks in line with company procedure and report defects correctly.
• Take responsibility for the unit and trailer, including temperature checks where required.
• Maintain a high standard of behaviour, appearance and customer service at all times.

What we’re looking for

• Valid C+E Licence.
• Minimum 6 months’ HGV Class 1 driving experience preferred; unfortunately, we cannot accept new pass drivers for this contract.
• No more than 6 points on your licence and no DD or DR code convictions.
• Current valid DCPC and Tachograph cards.
• Good understanding of Driver’s Hours and Working Time Directive legislation.
• Ability to complete vehicle checks and report defects correctly.
• Commitment to on-site health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication skills and a professional approach.
