Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc, based in Portbury, is seeking an experienced Class 1 ADR Driver for a full-time role. You will transport hazardous goods, conduct vehicle checks, and ensure compliance with ADR and tachograph rules while delivering reliable service to engineers and client sites.

The role offers a Monday–Friday schedule, 48 hours per week, with early start times and a strong benefits package including pension, dental insurance, life cover, and employee discounts.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid Category CE UK driving licence and Driver CPC.
• ADR licence, Class 9 – with hazmat packaging experience preferred.
• Previous experience transporting hazardous goods (batteries/solar panels is desirable).
• Strong commitment to safety, compliance and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport ADR-classified goods to customer sites and perform trunk runs.
• Carry out vehicle checks and report defects.
• Comply with ADR, Driver Hours and Tachograph regulations.
• Complete delivery documentation (ePODs, manifests) accurately.
• Represent GXO professionally to customers and site contacts.

Here at GXO Logistics, we are looking for a versatile and safety focused Class 1 ADR Driver to join our specialist team in Portbury, BS20 7XE. You'll be responsible for the secure transport of hazardous goods, including lithium-ion batteries and solar panels, across the UK for our client Octopus. This role is ideal for professional drivers who take pride in safety, compliance and providing excellent customer service.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday, start times vary averaging between 05:00 to 06:00, contracted to 48 hours per week.

What you'll do on a typical day:

• Safely transport ADR-classified goods (e.g. lithium-ion batteries) to and from customer sites, making 1-2 deliveries to engineers in the morning, followed by a trunk run between our distribution centres
• Carry out vehicle checks, report defects, and ensure compliance with company and legal safety standards
• Follow ADR, Driver Hours, Tachograph, and Health & Safety regulations at all times
• Accurately complete delivery documentation (ePODs, manifests, waste transfer notes if required)
• Provide a professional, reliable service when representing the company to customers and site contacts

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• Valid Category CE (Class 1) UK driving licence
• Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card;
• ADR licence, minimum class 9 - miscellaneous dangerous substances, with packages preferred
• Previous experience with hazardous goods transport (batteries/solar panels desirable)
• Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and excellent customer service
• Ability to work independently with a professional approach
