Job summary

Gi Group UK is seeking HGV Class 1 Drivers to join one of the UK's largest parcel delivery networks. You will safely drive company vehicles, load, transport and deliver parcels to depots, hubs and customers. Newly qualified drivers are welcomed and considered for shifts at £19.27 per hour under PAYE including holiday pay.

Shifts run Sunday to Thursday with 2130 starts. Applicants must hold a Category CE licence, Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card, and be able to operate mobile IT equipment

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Category CE licence (Class 1).
• Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card are required.
• Able to use mobile IT equipment and complete daily paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate vehicles in accordance with safety procedures and legal requirements.
• Load and unload waste materials and tip at approved facilities.
• Undertake required training including Driver Induction.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform daily checks.
• Communicate professionally with colleagues, customers and supervisors.

Job description

Gi Group are looking for HGV Class 1 Drivers (New passes are accepted and welcomed) to work for one of the UK's biggest Parcel delivery companies.

The Role

As a HGV Class 1 Driver, you will be driving the company vehicle safely, load, transport and deliver parcels and packages to depots, hubs and customers.

Shifts & Pay:

£19.27 per hour

*Please note these rates are PAYE and inclusive of advanced holiday pay.

Sunday to Thursday - 2130 starts

Key Responsibilities

• To drive / operate vehicles and equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and legal requirements and as required by the company in accordance with the valid licence, experience and training for that vehicle / equipment
• Tipping of vehicle at designated and approved recycling & refuse facilities, to load and unload waste materials in accordance with the company's policy, procedures, training and legal requirements, ensuring compliance with all health and safety requirements
• Undertake any training / instruction required to carry out these duties and or deemed necessary to fulfil the role (Including Driver Induction)
• Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of vehicles and equipment to a high standard, including daily vehicle checks on any vehicle driven
• To deal with colleagues, customers and other personnel in a polite, responsible and professional manner
• To comply with all reporting procedures.

What We're Looking For

• Must hold a valid Category CE licence (Class 1), Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Able to use mobile IT equipment, follow reporting procedures, complete daily paperwork and electronic records accurately.
• Communicate clearly with supervisors, controllers, colleagues, customers and members of the public
• Understanding of safe and legal HGV driving, including Working Time requirements, tachograph rules, official break requirements and company procedures.
• Knowledge of daily vehicle checks, basic defect reporting and the importance of maintaining vehicle roadworthiness.
• Awareness of health, safety and environmental requirements when loading, transporting, unloading and tipping waste and recycling materials.
• Experience of, or ability to undertake, physical outdoor work including moving bins, handling recycling containers and working in all weather conditions.
• Experience of waste, recycling, cleansing or commercial collections operations is desirable.
