Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd is seeking a Class 1 Driver to operate on a 4 on 4 off days shift from The Range, Avonmouth. You will deliver goods to retail stores on a dedicated contract using curtain side, tail lift and box trailers.

Responsibilities include ensuring loads are secured, performing daily checks, and maintaining excellent customer service. You will work with the transport office to adapt to schedules, complete 1–3 drops per shift, and participate in ongoing training to stay compliant

Qualifications

• UK Class 1 CE Licence is required.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card are required.
• Minimum 6 months HGV driving experience.
• Retail or commercial site delivery experience is preferred.
• Strong customer service and clear communication are essential.
• Ability to work to tight schedules while maintaining high safety standards.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude with ability to work independently.
• Good geographical knowledge and route planning awareness.

• Maintain communication with transport office for updates and changes in real time.
• Represent the company professionally at delivery points and build relationships with store teams.
• Participate in ongoing training and updates on industry regulations.

About The Role

• Deliver goods to retail stores on a dedicated contract using curtain side, tail lift, and box trailers, while returning store waste to the depot.
• Complete an average of 1 to 3 delivery drops per shift in line with schedule and route planning.
• Ensure all loads are safely and securely restrained using straps, nets, and appropriate securing equipment to prevent movement or damage during transit.
• Safely operate electric-assisted pallet trucks and carry out manual handling for cage-based deliveries when required, ensuring efficient and safe unloading at customer sites.
• Manage trailer movements, including the collection and return of trailers for servicing at the end of each shift.
• Perform comprehensive daily vehicle safety checks using your company phone to maintain top-notch vehicle safety and reliability.
• Maintain regular communication with the transport office to provide updates on delivery progress and respond to any changes or issues in real time.
• Represent the company professionally at every delivery point, ensuring excellent customer service and building strong relationships with store teams.
• Participate in ongoing training and development, including refresher courses and updates on industry regulations, to keep your skills sharp and compliant.

Essential Skills And Qualifications

• Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• A minimum of 6 months' HGV driving experience.
• Previous experience delivering to retail or commercial sites (preferred but not essential).
• A strong focus on customer service, with the ability to communicate clearly and courteously.
• The ability to work to tight schedules while maintaining high safety standards.
• A positive, team-oriented attitude and the ability to work independently when required.
• Good geographical knowledge and route planning awareness.

• Competitive Salary: £19.00 per hour, equating to £35,449 per annum, based on an average of 35.88 hours per week. PLUS for all shifts starting between 12:00hrs - 02:00hrs, you will receive an additional £17.50 per shift.
