Job Description:

Sellick Partnership are urgently seeking an experienced claims handler to join their local authority client based in the West Midlands. This is an interim role with an initial duration of 3-6 months with the possibility to extend.

As Claims handler you will be responsible for ensuring that all claims brought against the Council are dealt with professionally, economically and within legal time frames. Types of claims may include: public liability damage, personal injury and motor claims. Working as part of a wider team to include inhouse lawyers, claims handlers and insurers depending on the types of claims. You will also liaise with external stakeholders including: engineers, medical experts, loss adjusters, third party solicitors and insurers.

Duties will include:

  • Ensuring all claims are logged on the claims handling system, with records kept accurate and up-to-date
  • Notifying external claim handlers within set time frames where appropriate
  • Investigation of all claims, obtaining information and evidence where required
  • Assessing evidence and legislation against each claim to determine whether legal liability will attach to the Council
  • Provide liability decision to claimants or their legal representatives or third party insurers
  • Managing the process of settlements from evaluating quantum through to financial payments being recorded on relevant systems
  • Previous experience of handling a wide range of liability claims with an insurance company, claims handler or equivalent. Or experience of handling a wide range of liability claims with an insurance company, claims handler or equivalent

This is a hybrid working role with some office attendance required.
