Oral Health Promotion Team Leader

Band 5 - 37 Hours per week

Aberdeenshire Public Dental Service

Aberdeenshire Public Dental Service is delighted to advertise the above post and recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join the Oral Health Promotion Team. The vacancy is open to qualified, GDC registered Dental Nurses who have a specific interest in oral health promotion.

Post qualification in Oral Health Education and Promotion or experience is essential.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake the post qualification in Oral Health Education within 12 months if they do not currently hold this.

Candidates should be motivated, have strong people, organisational and communication skills, being able to interact on all levels.

A full driving license and use of own car is required as this role remit necessitates the need to travel across various locations within the Aberdeenshire.

Principle duties associated with the remit of this role include-

  • Offering oral health improvement programmes to a range of vulnerable patients /patient groups including oral health care skills training, education and motivation.
  • Assessing training needs, developing and delivering training and skills courses for carers, parents, care staff including health professionals, in a variety of locations and settings.
  • Establishing and maintaining oral health improvement, tooth brushing and oral care programs in settings for vulnerable groups.
  • Supporting the delivery of high quality professional standards for all oral health programmes.

Ability to work without close supervision is essential as well as the successful candidate approaching their work in a methodical and highly organised manner.

The ability to evidence sensitivity to the additional requirements of working with vulnerable groups within a range of settings is fundamental to this post.
