NHS GRAMPIAN

CONSULTANT IN GASTROENTEROLOGY WITH INTEREST IN ADVANCED ENDOSCOPY

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Gastroenterology with interest in Advanced Endoscopy, based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. This is an exciting opportunity to develop regional expertise in Advanced Endoscopy techniques.

Aberdeen Royal Infirmary has a large and busy tertiary level Endoscopy service providing the full range of complex therapeutic procedures. Opportunities would be tailored following negotiation with the successful candidate and could include advanced polypectomy / EMR (upper & lower), RFA, ERCP and/or EUS.

Involvement in active clinical research training programmes of the department would be encouraged.

Full registration with a license to practice with the GMC is required. (license to practice must be in place prior to starting in post). For more information visit www.gmc-uk.org

This is a full-time substantive post. It will consist of a mix of duties to be confirmed with successful candidate including endoscopy lists, out-patient clinic plus time for administration, continued professional development and research activities.

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview. Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).

Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made. Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made.
