Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP)
Band 7 - Part time or full time hours available - Permanent
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Acute Medicine of Unscheduled Care for a qualified registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our innovative, forward-thinking, friendly and supportive nursing and medical teams.
We are looking for a team player who wants to help the Acute Medicine department continue its success and contribute to key performance measures. The role of the Band 7 Advanced Nurse Practitioner will focus on improving patient outcomes by enhancing the quality of their hospital stay. They will support senior medical and trainee/ANP staff in ensuring continuity and efficiency in service delivery.
You will also be part of the specialised 24/7 team in the Flow Navigation Centre, which aims to deliver the Right Care, Right Place model guided by the Scottish Government. The team will use telephone or “Near Me” technology to conduct direct patient assessments, helping to reduce unnecessary A&E presentations and guide patients to appropriate care pathways. The ideal candidate for the Band 7 ANP position will hold MSc qualifications or PgDip in Advanced Practice, with the MSc being fully or near completion. An Independent Non-medical Prescribing (IP) qualification is mandatory.
Applicants must have at least 5 years of extensive clinical experience as an ANP/NP, especially within Acute Medicine and/or Primary Care. They should demonstrate high standards of clinical care, autonomous decision-making skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. The role involves hands-on clinical nursing, night duties, and opportunities for skills development, including procedures like lumbar punctures and arterial blood gas sampling. An interest in audit, medicines management, service redesign, and expansion is also essential.
