Job Title: CJU Digital Multimedia Transcriber-HC621873

Location: Basingstoke, Southampton or Portsmouth. (Office Based)

Contract: Permanent/Part Time

Hours: 18.5 hours per week (Part time)

Closing Date: Sunday 10th August 2025 at 23:59 hours

Are you someone who enjoys highly detailed work, has the ability to work on your own initiative, is willing to take ownership of your work, and is resilient?

If so, then you could be the person we are looking for to join our small team who transcribe suspect interviews, victims' first accounts, and 999 calls. Although you are part of a team, much of the work is carried out independently as you will be watching and listening to recordings, which can contain sensitive and possibly highly sensitive material, to extract relevant information to support cases that Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary are taking to Crown Court.

While your primary task is transcribing, you will also be booking and logging recordings and liaising with police officers and the imaging department to ensure proper receipt and clarity of images.

If this work interests you and you want to help HIOWC deliver justice for victims of crime, we would love to hear from you.

Job Purpose

To accurately extract, transcribe, and present evidence from various source materials to support investigations within the Criminal Justice System.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Create, update, and maintain records on relevant computerised and manual filing systems, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and compliance with guidelines.
  2. Ensure quality assurance of received information, maintaining data accuracy and consistency, and escalate issues as needed.
  3. Develop understanding of relevant legislation and procedures to support legal documentation processing.
  4. Liaise regularly with internal and external stakeholders, such as the Crown Prosecution Service, to ensure efficient service delivery.
  5. Assist in the development and maintenance of IT systems and administrative processes for effective workload management.
