Job Description

Elvet Recruitment is recruiting for a Project Manager on behalf of a growing international civil engineering main contractor to oversee projects across Yorkshire as part of a new framework agreement.

Following a very successful AMP7, the company has secured work on the AMP8 framework with Yorkshire Water extending to at least 2030. The contractor has a £500m+ turnover and a forward-thinking regional team, many of whom have come from Tier 1 & Tier 2 backgrounds or have grown from Graduate level within the company.

The projects involve a wide range of civil engineering works including Water Treatment works, reinforced concrete works, structures, deep drainage, pipework, cofferdams, and shaft sinking, with project values up to £5-10m.

Responsibilities

1. Management of multiple projects depending on their value
2. Assessing buildability and feasibility in collaboration with the in-house Design team and external consultancies
3. Assisting the Contracts Manager with staff and subcontractor allocation
4. Supporting programming work
5. Leading Early Contractor Involvement (ECI)
6. Communicating with the commercial team to control budgets and track costs
7. Issuing early warnings and managing compensation events
8. Producing relevant documentation for site operations

Experience and Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Project Manager with a principal contractor on civil engineering or infrastructure projects valued at £5m+
• Experience managing Water or Heavy Civil projects as the Principal Contractor
• Experience with NEC 3 or NEC 4 contracts is essential
• Industry-related qualification such as HNC/HND or Degree is beneficial
• Must hold SMSTS, CSCS, and a Full Driver's License
• Temporary Works tickets are beneficial
