Job summary

Comex-2000 is recruiting for a hands-on civils professional to join our team in the UK. The role focuses on blockage works and telecoms installations, requiring a Class 2 + HIAB/Clamshell licence and comfort with on-site digs, reinstatements, and street cabinets.

You will operate grab lorries, conduct ducting and chamber installs, and maintain strict safety and compliance across sites. CSCS & NRSWA certification and a proactive, communicative approach are essential.

Qualifications

• CSCS and NRSWA certification required for highway work.
• Towing and 7.5T licence are essential for this role.
• Blockage repair experience is highly desirable for the initial workstream.
• Experience as Grab Driver in civils or telecoms is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Excavation & reinstatement - digs, repairs, backfills and reinstatements to industry standards.
• Grab & HIAB operation - safely operate grab lorries with class 2 + HIAB/Clamshell licence.
• Ducting & chamber installs - install ducting, chambers and street cabinets.
• Streetworks compliance - set up SLG and ensure site 100% compliant.
• Using civils tools & plant - operate Stihl saws, wacker plates and trench compactors.
• Daily paperwork - complete job sheets, risk assessments, plant sheets and van checks.
• Risk & safety awareness - identify hazards and follow safe systems of work.
• Asset responsibility - look after vehicles, tools and plant.
• Client communication - liaise with supervisors, planners and client reps.
• Flexible working - support other civils workstreams when required.

Hands-on role for experienced civils professionals with Class 2 + HIAB/Clamshell

If you're a skilled Grab Driver with experience in civils or telecoms, this role puts you right at the centre of the action. We're looking for someone who can operate confidently on the highway, support blockage clearance, and carry out reinstatement and excavation works to a high standard.

This position starts as a blockage operative, so experience repairing telecoms blockages is a big advantage.

What You'll Be Doing

• Excavation & reinstatement - Carry out digs, repairs, backfills and reinstatements to industry standards.
  
• Grab & HIAB operation - Operate grab lorries safely and efficiently using your Class 2 + HIAB/Clamshell licence.
  
• Ducting & chamber installs - Install ducting, chambers, street cabinets and draw rope on telecoms networks.
  
• Streetworks compliance - Set up SLG correctly and ensure every site is 100% compliant.
  
• Using civils tools & plant - Competently use Stihl saws, wacker plates, trench compactors and other plant.
  
• Daily paperwork - Complete job sheets, risk assessments, plant sheets and van checks.
  
• Risk & safety awareness - Identify hazards, follow safe systems of work and maintain a strong safety mindset.
  
• Asset responsibility - Look after company vehicles, tools and plant assigned to you.
  
• Client communication - Communicate clearly with supervisors, planners and client reps.
  
• Flexible working - Support other civils workstreams when required.
