Recruiting for a Civils Gang, Team Leader & Operative

Permanent, full-time

Working alongside your Team Leader, the civils operative will be required to ensure that all work is completed in a safe and professional manner and to a high standard in accordance with Utility Line technical designs and guidelines.

You will travel nationwide to complete Civil Engineering Works for EV and grid connection projects for our continuously growing client base. Working closely with your dedicated Team Leader, you will need to ensure your 'Gangs' work is completed in a safe and professional manner and to a high standard in accordance with Utility Line Management Systems and Technical Designs and Guidelines.

More about the role:

  • Excavation works including service trenching
  • Operation of small highways and maintenance plant and equipment
  • Carry out ground surveys and locate underground services using cable avoidance tools
  • Liaising with on-site representatives and working closely with the Site Managers/Supervisors and in some instances the Utility Line Electrical Teams and Sub-Contractors
  • Manage your company vehicle and ensure it is in good working order at all times and notify management if any repairs are required
  • Reporting hazards/near misses using Utility Line's reporting system
  • Building foundations, forming concrete bases, laying ducting, reinstating surfaces, creating inspection pits, reinstatement of cable joint bays and cable installation
  • Ability to work with a range of colleagues and client and able to deliver great customer service onsite
  • To highlight any concerns, unsafe conditions or acts to your Line Manager
  • Keep project sites tidy and in good working order at all times
  • To represent Utility Line in a professional manner at all times

About you:

  • Proven track record of working on or adjacent to the electricity distribution networks
  • Understanding of the Electrical Safety rules
  • NRSWA/EUSR SHEA Power/CSCS cards
  • Mechanical Excavators/CPCS/NPORS cards
  • Understanding of the Interpretation of mains records
  • Manual handling training
  • Winch Training
  • Towing Licence
  • Emergency First Aid
  • Knowledge of Use of hydraulically operated plant and equipment
  • Cable avoidance/abrasive wheel training
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
