The Civils Operative will be responsible for performing excavations, repairs, re-reinstatements, installation of ducting, chambers, street cabinets, and the installation of draw ropes on telecoms infrastructure located within the public highway and customers' premises. Work must be carried out using up-to-date client standard operating procedures and in full compliance with current legislation, health and safety requirements, and company policies.

Responsibilities and duties

• Drive and operate a 7.5t Tipper truck (where required).
• Install ducting, chambers, cabinets, and handle associated customer connections.
• Clear blockages in the highway and reinstate to industry standards, ensuring all information and photos are captured on company assets such as phones or tablets.
• Operate equipment like Stihl Saws, Wacker plates, trench compactors, and jackhammers, holding the correct certifications. Competency in using a mini digger is an advantage.
• Install new draw ropes to customer connection points following duct and box installations.
• Complete necessary paperwork, including job sheets, risk assessments, and plant or van sheets.
• Conduct risk assessments and hazard identifications, emphasizing health and safety.
• Responsible for company assets and plant used in your duties.
• Maintain respectful and professional communication with internal and external customers.
• Ensure compliance with all client processes and procedures.

Requirements

• Hold a 7.5t Tipper license (where required).
• Experience in operational or engineering roles within the telecommunications industry is advantageous.
• Confidence in street works and industry-recognized qualifications.
• Full UK driver’s license.
• Qualifications such as NRSWA, CSCS or equivalent, CPCS.
• Good physical health.
