Metropolitan Police Service is recruiting
Civilian Investigators to join its
Public Protection command in
Brixton. This role allows you to bring your frontline and investigative experience to complex and high-impact cases, without the need to return to a warranted role.
You’ll be working on major and non-recent investigations, including
rape, serious sexual offences, child abuse, domestic abuse, and
cold cases—making a real difference in the lives of victims and helping bring justice in some of the most serious and sensitive cases.

Your Role Will Include:- Taking statements and video interviews from victims and witnesses
- Reviewing CCTV and conducting house-to-house or field enquiries
- Identifying safeguarding needs and referring to appropriate services
- Working with external agencies including Social Care, Education, and Health
- Reviewing and preparing documentary evidence and third-party material
- Supporting live and cold case investigations, including cases involving new forensic evidence
- Supporting operations like Op Granbury (non-recent abuse in care homes)
Essential Experience:- Former warranted police officer or detective
- Background in public protection, safeguarding, RASSO, child abuse or major crime
- Strong statement-taking and victim interviewing skills
- Knowledge of investigative processes, criminal law, and police procedures
- Ability to assess, evaluate and present evidence effectively
- Clear, confident communicator able to work independently or in a team
PIP2 accreditation is desirable but not essential.Additional Info:- You will be required to complete OST/ELS training (no JRFT required)
- Hybrid working model—1 day remote per week from January 2025
- Nominal posting is New Scotland Yard, with primary location in Brixton
